David's Gravatar Hi, when I heard that Myrtle Avenue was being closed for traffic on four Sundays, I thought how wonderful--people walking, kids bicycling and skating. The music at the Five Spot was a total turnoff--the music was so loud that we had to leave our apartment at 11:45 and not come back till seven. Is this any way to discover Myrtle Avenue? I thought the purpose of the street closing was to create a calm and enjoyable environment, not one with superloud disco and screaming singers. So I hope that this music stage was a one time event. Sunday, for many people, is a day of rest and reflection. For me, Rosh Hashanah, Jewish New Year, falls on Friday from sundown to Sunday, September 20, at sundown and Yom Kippur begins Sunday September 27th.
I sincerely hope that there will be no music on those days. Thank you. David

Meredith's Gravatar Hi David - We truly apologize that the music disrupted your Sunday. Five Spot was celebrating their 13th anniversary last Sunday, and planned a full day of music as part of the festivities. We asked them to turn down the volume, and they eventually did so, but probably not until after you left your apartment, unfortunately. We are definitely taking volume levels into consideration for programming at future events, and appreciate your feedback.
