Agency Mission

The 59 community boards are independent City agencies that advise on land use, the City budget, municipal service delivery and other matters on a geographically exclusive basis. Brooklyn Community Board 2 serves Boerum Hill, Bridge Plaza, Brooklyn Heights, the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Clinton Hill, Downtown Brooklyn, Dumbo, Farragut, Fort Greene, Fulton Ferry Landing, Vinegar Hill and Wallabout.

Job Description

The selected candidate will be under supervision of the district manager with latitude for independent decision and action. The candidate will perform administrative and clerical duties based on agency need, including but not limited to answering telephones, filing, updating the mail log, preparing public hearing notices, board mailings, and committee packets. Responsibilities may require work outside of the district office as well as scheduling and securing meeting locations.

Qualification Requirements

1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.
2. The ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is a plus.
4. Ability to work some evenings on an as-needed basis.
5. New York City residency within 90 days of appointment.

OMB and Probationary Review

Appointment to this position is subject to approval by the Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The selected candidate will be hired subject to a twelve-month probationary period.
