Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership Teams Up With Publicolor to Bring Colorful Paint Jobs to Three Sites Along the Commercial Corridor

Volunteers Invited to Pick Up a Brush and Join in Bringing the Power of Color and Collaboration to Brooklyn’s Myrtle Avenue

(Fort Greene/Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, September 14, 2006)

WHAT: Publicolor, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to engaging at-risk students in their education by involving them in the painted transformation of their struggling schools and neglected community facilities will help revitalize Brooklyn’s Myrtle Avenue in conjunction with the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership. This Saturday, Publicolor students and volunteers from the community will paint color on facades, retaining walls, rusty fences and other areas along the avenue and several cross streets in need of a visual boost.

To date, Publicolor has colorfully transformed over 77 New York City public school buildings and over 95 community sites, including health clinics, homeless shelters, senior centers, and police precinct houses, impacting the daily lives of some 150,000 students and teachers while mobilizing the efforts of some 20,000 volunteers.
