FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Polish Bar of Brooklyn, Dahling!
Clinton Hill Entrepreneur Opens Hip Beauty Bar on Myrtle Avenue
(Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, July 24, 2006) - What is pink, fuchsia, brown and polka dotted all over? Polish Bar of Brooklyn (PBB). And if you have not heard of it yet…well, where have you been, dahling?
The brainchild of Clinton Hill resident and beauty guru, Tricialee Riley, the new, hip beauty bar which is equal parts professional, fun and affordable, opened its doors on July 18th to a ‘cupcakes and champagne’ grand celebration and a teeming crowd of locals who were ushered in on the pink carpet.
Polish Bar of Brooklyn offers a full menu of beauty services, including manicures, pedicures, make-up applications, and the newest techniques in lash extensions. “I always knew I would open a beauty bar,” stated owner, Tricialee, who has been working in the beauty industry for more than a decade, first as a make-up artist and later opening counters and stores for top industry names such as MAC, bobbi brown and Trish McEvoy Cosmetics.
“Polish Bar of Brooklyn is a response to what I feel had been a void in the beauty industry, we offer a wide variety of quality pampering options that fall between the $5 manicure and the $100 spa, and also,” Tricialee continues, “we offer true pleasure and service principles which frankly, most nail salons out there miss.”
Polish Bar of Brooklyn offers services for women, men and children. In fact, Tricialee explains, “when I created the store color brand I knew I would use pink, the most “feminine color” I could think of and brown, the most “masculine color” I could think of, to represent the fact that it is a business with services for both genders.” The fuchsia and polka dots are all about fun.
“Polish Bar of Brooklyn is a natural extension of who I am,” states Tricialee. “I was born in Brooklyn, in Brooklyn Hospital no less, so it is only fitting that the borough is a significant part of the endeavor in name and location. But I was raised in Arizona, which is known for its plethora of spas, so I grew up with a love and appreciation of the spa environment. And of course, I knew make-up would have to be a part of it,” asserts Tricialee, whose first clients came to her rather serendipitously while still a student at her alma mater Arizona State University. “The media and performing arts students,” Tricialee laughs. “Whatever their request, I did it — from standard stage makeup to completely transforming their look to what was required for the role — vampire, Frankenstein, even significantly “aging them.”
Other unique offerings at the Polish Bar are a variety of ‘beauty parties’ such as the popular Brooklyn Party which offers mani/pedi service, make-up application, brow touch-up, complimentary martinis, snack trays, and PBB gift bags to parties of a minimum of 6. At $95/person, this is the perfect pampering for bridal, groom, sleepover, graduation, birthday and prom parties, or for just getting together with a few friends to enjoy a day of pampering. Tricialee also has a special men’s grooming menu planned later this summer and additionally has a stellar line of fabulous-smelling bath and body products under the PBB label.
“This is only the beginning,” says Tricialee. “In the next five years, I envision a Polish Bar of Brooklyn in Carroll Gardens, Park Slope and Bay Ridge.” With a diverse and quite capable staff of six, including store manager Starr, also with a long tenure in the make-up and beauty industry, the Polish Bar of Brooklyn is set to become a major beauty business success.
If the details that shined through at the grand opening reception are an indication of the thoughtfulness and lengths that the Polish Bar will go to pamper and polish—lovely floral arrangements, delicious cupcakes fancifully iced in the store’s signature colors, rose-petals abundantly placed in hydro foot massagers, soothing music, sepia-toned photos of the brownstone surrounds, and black-and white-postcards of the divas we love—Eartha Kitt, Sophia Loren, Tina Turner, placed to inspire at various makeup tables—then, well, what are you waiting for?
Both walk -ins and appointments welcomed. Polish Bar of Brooklyn is located at 470 Myrtle Avenue between Washington Avenue and Hall Street in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
