Owa Afrikan Market To Close Myrtle Avenue Shop

Fri, Sep 2nd, 2016

OwaAfter 25 years on Myrtle Avenue Owa Afrikan Market (434 Myrtle Avenue between Clinton and Waverly) will be leaving Myrtle Avenue and relocating to bigger digs on Broadway and Decatur.

“The move isn’t something we originally planned, but It’s turned out to be a true blessing,” shared Mrs. Osagie. Our lease was coming up and we started driving around in order to to explore various options, and found this space in less than one full week of looking.

Owa Afrikan Market has been a true destination business on Myrtle Avenue and Mr. and Mrs. Osagie will be missed tremendously.

The word ‘Owa’ means home in the Edo language. Owa is a go-to haven for textiles, gifts, art and crafts, imported food, musical instruments, music, books, movies (DVDs), wood carvings and so much more.  Owa Afrikan Market opened its doors on Myrtle Avenue to address the needs of customers living in New York City seeking authentic African clothing and crafts.  Stop in before September 14th to let them how much they’ve been appreciated here on Myrtle Avenue all of these years and how much they will be missed.

Visit them at their new location (1666 Broadway at Decatur) or click here to order online

Wishing our friends at Owa Afrikan Market — Mr. and Mrs. Osagie and store manager Osawa (Sara), our very best. Connect to their Facebook page here & keep supporting them online here.
