YEMP Application

The Young Entrepreneur Mentorship Program (YEMP) is a 6-week summer internship program for high school students from Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. Students are placed in paid job experiences and also participate in orientation and educational workshops. Workshops focus on work readiness and may include speakers or trips.

Students will work up to 15 hours per week, and will be paid for both internship and workshop hours.

Eligibility
You are eligible to apply if you will be a sophomore, junior, senior or starting your first year of college in Fall 2020 (roughly ages 15 to 18) and you live or attend school near Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene or Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.

Important Dates and Notes
Job assignments run from July 6 – August 14. Most job sites are on Myrtle Avenue. Schedules will vary depending on job placement.

Tentative workshop dates:

  • June 30 (mandatory orientation/welcome event for accepted students and parents/guardians)
  • July 23 and August 6 (skills workshop)
  • August 14 (graduation / closing ceremony).

Application Deadline: June 8, 2020

**No more than two excused workday absences permitted. All workshops are mandatory. Orientation and closing celebration mandatory. Unexcused workday absences and lateness will result in reduced weekly wages. Please review your schedules and discuss any possible conflicts before the program start date.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, rest assured that our businesses are taking the necessary precautions to enhance and promote safety in the workplace. We will work with each host site to develop an employee safety plan that will strive to protect all participating in high schoolers safe.
