Dee & Ricky's Coming to Myrtle

Tue, Feb 8th, 2011

The nearly 1000sf storefront at 503 Myrtle Avenue has been vacant for almost a decade.

Come early Spring, Dee & Rickys will be all moved in. The 20-seat restaurant, Dee & Rickys, will feature delectable Cajun, Soul and Caribbean dishes.

If the name 'Dee & Rickys' sounds at all familiar, it should. The restaurant is named for the trendsetting, designer identical twins, Dee & Ricky Jackson, who will manage the business along with owner, Alvin Wray.

Wray, a recently retired NYC public school assistant principal and long-time Clinton Hill resident and Brooklyn son, has long looked forward to owning his own restaurant, inspired certainly by his own dad, who once served as head executive chef at the famed Waldorf Astoria.

The twins are known for their Lego-inspired accessories, made famous by musicians, Kanye West (the red heart pin) and Rihanna (the cigarette pin) and renowned fashion designer, Marc Jacobs, who commissioned the twins to design accessories for one of his 2009 runway shows. Well-respected, contemporary portrait artist, Kehinde Wiley, immortalized the twins through his art.

Expect to see whimsical Lego-inspired surprises in the restaurants colorful interior design.

We are looking forward to assisting Mr. Wray via a NY Main Street grant to improve the commercial space's interior and exterior.
