SUMMARY:Massaya Wines of Lebanon Tasting at Corkscrew Wines
DESCRIPTION:Delicious wines made by hand. \n  \nSami and Ramzi Ghosn\, the second generation owners\, learned to love nature and its greatest produce – wine – during their childhood; in 1975\, the civil war raged in Lebanon forcing the Ghosn’s to leave their Estate\, nevertheless they always knew a day will come where they would return. Seventeen years later they returned and began making the wine of their dreams. \n  \nAs far as the brothers are concerned it is no coincidence that the Romans chose the Bekaa Valley as the site to build the temple of Bacchus in homage to their God of wine and grapes. Join Corkscrew to taste the labor of their hard work. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Opening Reception | Yo Brooklynites IV Annual Community Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Brooklyn Art Review is proud to present the fourth annual Yo Brooklynites community group exhibition. \nThe Yo Brooklynites exhibition is organized to showcase diversity in the arts. Many of the artists involved are local Brooklyn artists whose artwork ranges in medium and content. \nThe exhibition brings a sense of diversity and common interests between different cultural backgrounds that make up our neighborhood. \nThe Brooklyn Art Review was founded on the principle that art should be freely accessible to both artist and the public. It is with this concept that the Brooklyn Art Review provides an equal opportunity for artists to represent their craft\, genre\, and talent. Most importantly\, group exhibitions remind us of the ever-changing range of subjects\, concepts\, and techniques that continue to shape modern art. \nYo Brooklynites IV group exhibition is FREE and open the public and all ages! \nDates: May 03-July 06 \nOpening Reception: Sunday\, June 01\, 4-6pm \nCost: Free\, All Ages! \nWebsite: http://brooklynartreview.com/?p=147 \nCurated by Joshua H. Stulman \n

SUMMARY:Community Board 2 Transportation & Safety Committee
DESCRIPTION:We have partnered with GrowNYC to expand the Fort Greene Park Greenmarket further north on Washington Park and closer to Myrtle Avenue to increase visibility and access for residents north of the park and decrease shopper congestion at market. In addition to the expansion\, we will host a community education station on the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Washington Park with food and health programming for all ages and regular tours of the Greenmarket to inform the community about the products available and the fact that food benefits are accepted. \nWe hope the proposed changes will: \n\nLead to greater market participation by Fort Greene residents living north of Fort Greene Park\, especially those living at New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) Ingersoll and Whitman Houses\, creating an opportunity to positively impact the health and wellness of thousands of families and seniors.\nBetter connect residents shopping with benefits to existing neighborhood resources like the Greenmarket\, possibly even influencing that market to evolve to better meet the needs of low-income customers over time.\nSupport City\, State and Federal Food Benefit programs\, ensuring sustainability of these essential food supplement incentives that allow all residents to access fresh\, healthy foods.\nIncrease the revenue of participating regional farmers\, supporting their ability to continue bringing local\, fresh food to Fort Greene.\nDecrease shopping congestion\n\nTo date\, we have received over 300 support signatures at market\, support from multiple Elected Officials including Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams\, Assemblyman Joseph Lentol and Assemblyman Walter Mosley and numerous Resident Associations\, local businesses\, and Community Based Organizations. \nThank you to all for your support to improve access to fresh\, affordable food for all local residents! \nPlease sign the petition here and come hear GrowNYC present the proposal at the upcoming Community Board 2 Transportation & Safety Committee meeting.
