SUMMARY:Senior Friendly Historic Wallabout Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a FREE 60-min\, senior-friendly walking tour along Myrtle Avenue\, which will explore the history of the Wallabout neighborhood on Tues\, Sept. 15th at 10:30am. The walk will use the neighborhood’s historic architecture to discuss 400 years of local history for the area north of Myrtle Avenue. The tour will include a ¾ mile\, level walk. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (718) 230-1689 ext. 6#.  Tours will begin at the Walt Whitman Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library at the corner of Auburn Place and St. Edwards Street. \nThe tour is generously supported through a grant from the NY Council for the Humanities.

SUMMARY:Wallabout Historic Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE TOUR HERE THROUGH EVENTBRITE. \nOn the last Saturday of each month during Summer 2015\, the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership\, in collaboration with the Fort Greene Park Conservancy\, will host a FREE guided walking tour through Fort Greene Park and the historic Wallabout neighborhood north of Myrtle Avenue. \nThe neighborhood\, most of which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district\, has a beautiful mix of pre-Civil War homes and late 19th century industrial buildings. The walk will discuss how the neighborhood has developed since the Dutch first arrived in the early 1600’s and highlight notable residents\, such as Walt Whitman (visit The Walt Whitman Project for more information). \nThe 2 hour guided tour begins in Fort Greene Park\, includes a 1.5 mile walk\, and concludes at 99 Ryerson Street. The event is FREE\, but space is limited and registration is required. \nThe tours are generously supported by the NY Council for the Humanities. \nPLEASE REGISTER THROUGH EVENTBRITE.
