SUMMARY:Info Session: UNIQLO Park Expressions Grant
DESCRIPTION:The Art in the Parks: UNIQLO Park Expressions Grant will support the creation of artworks by New York City-based emerging artists for 10 designated parks. The parks are highly visible\, but underserved by cultural programming. The UNIQLO grant program will transform these locations into art destinations through a series of rotating exhibitions. \nAn info session for interested artists will be held at the Magnolia Tree Earth Center in Bed-Stuy for interested artists. \nGrants will be issued to 10 emerging artists with the most compelling public art proposals. Generously funded by UNIQLO\, each grantee will receive an award of $10\,000 to create their proposed artwork. \nFind full information about the project here.

SUMMARY:Wallabout Historic Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE TOUR HERE THROUGH EVENTBRITE. \nOn the 3rd Saturday of each month during Summer 2016\, the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership\, in collaboration with the Fort Greene Park Conservancy\, will host a FREE guided walking tour through the historic Wallabout neighborhood north of Myrtle Avenue. \nThe neighborhood\, most of which is listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places\, has a beautiful mix of pre-Civil War homes and late 19th century industrial buildings. The walk will discuss how the neighborhood has developed since the Dutch first arrived in the early 1600’s and highlight notable residents. \nThe 90 minute guided tour begins in Fort Greene Park\, includes a 1.5 mile walk\, and concludes at 99 Ryerson Street. The event is FREE\, but space is limited and registration is required. \nPLEASE REGISTER THROUGH EVENTBRITE. \nWant to go on more walking tours?  Check out the Fort Greene Park Walking Tour on the 2nd Saturday of each month\, May through August\, hosted by the Fort Greene Park Conservancy.  Tours begin at 11am at the Fort Greene Park Visitor’s Center.
