📢 Help us Spread the Word 📢 - Are you or do you know a Whitman Houses resident between the ages of 13 - 19 years old interested in graphic design and entrepreneurship?

Starting this Monday, come and be a part of the WHITMAN GRAFX program to learn the basics of design, enhance your skills, and get hands-on experience. PLUS, receive a $1,000 stipend for your participation! Limited spots available.

The 10 week program takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 - 7pm at the Whitman Senior Center. Contact MAP Engagement Coordinator Kenesha Traynham-Cooper to signup!!

About MABP + NStat: Since late 2022, the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership has been the implementing partner of the Mayor’s Action Plan (MAP) NeighborhoodStat (NStat) program at the Ingersoll and Whitman houses. NStat is a city-funded, locally-based program that encourages resident leadership and provides resources for the community to create solutions for public safety and to increase engagement. Those solutions are funded with $30,000 that is up for each NYCHA community to spend. The Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership is proud to facilitate this resident-led program and to help empower communities to have an impact and make change.

Participatory Budgeting is back! Participatory B

Participatory Budgeting is back!

Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a process through which local residents can decide how to allocate $1 million in city funding toward projects that improve their community. No one knows what our communities need best than the folks who live there.

The entire PB process is transparent, equity-oriented, and community-driven, as community members propose ideas, decide what makes the ballot, and ultimately vote on which proposals to fund.

Projects can include improvements to everything from schools to libraries to public housing to other public spaces. By participating, you determine the future of our community.

Polls are open from Saturday, April 6 through Sunday, April 14. You can vote anytime online at https://vote.pbnyc.org/. Interested individuals can instead vote in-person at the Brooklyn Museum on either Sunday, April 7 or Sunday, April 14 from 12-3pm.

Anyone age 11 and up who is a resident or student or worker in District 35 is eligible to vote! For more information on the PB process and what items are on the ballot, visit https://council.nyc.gov/crystal-hudson/pb/.
