DESCRIPTION:Jamaica might be the original home of dancehall\, but New York City can certainly lay claim to some of the genre’s shining moments. Now The Red Bull Music Academy is bringing a wide range of current\, future and pioneering dancehall artists together for a massive\, free daytime party under the Brooklyn skies. Featuring a special set by dub master and sound system ruler King Jammy\, the event will also include performances from Jamaica’s Assassin\, Lisa Hyper\, and Tifa\, and Brooklyn’s Kranium\, Ricky Blaze\, Mixpak Sound\, and Federation Sound. The event will also feature site-specific installations from artist collaborative AVAF (Assume Vivid Astro Focus)\, internationally renowned for their bodacious style\, critique of social codes\, and their longtime celebration of music’s liberating power. For Yardcore: Brooklyn Bashment\, AVAF’s visual fantasy offers a bold and brilliant take on dancehall aesthetics with an explosive stage design\, as well flags and graphic treatments throughout the park. Along with the onslaught of dancehall jams and brilliant art display\, Yardcore: Brooklyn Bashment will also offer bashment-goers authentic Jamaican cuisine.
