This Weekend on Myrtle : Branch Library

Fri, Oct 16th, 2009

The Branch community library is open this Sunday from 1-5pm in the Citibank lot at the corner of Myrtle and Clinton Avenues. Local residents have donated hundreds of books, including all kinds of great children's books, fiction, and nonfiction. Everyone who signs up for a free Branch library card can borrow books for free (If you checked out books last week, please bring them back on Sunday–they're due!). While you are there you can contribute to the neighborhood memoir made up of your stories: just stop by and write down a memory you have of the neighborhood.

Also this Sunday, local author Karan Mahajan (Family Planning) will give a reading. Check out http://www.karan-mahajan.com/ for more info about Karan's writing.

And next Sunday (the last) Filmmaker Astra Taylor (Examined Life) will be organizing a performance of readings from Branch books and other favorites, and we'll end with a Closing Party. Stay tuned for details! See http://www.hiddendriver.com/ for more info on Astra's work.

For more information, or to volunteer at the library, check out www.branchlibrary.org or just stop by on Sunday!
