DESCRIPTION:Hip to Hip Theatre Company celebrates its tenth season of Free Shakespeare in the Park with the venerable tragedy Julius Caesar. \nThis family-friendly production is for lovers of Shakespeare and for those experiencing Shakespeare for the first time. All performances are free and open to the public. Bring picnic blankets or low chairs. No lines. No tickets. Seating is first come\, first served.  \nJULIUS CAESAR (7:30-9 PM) \nIn this sensational political thriller\, Shakespeare explores the tension between private loyalties and the public good\, and unflinchingly questions the price of freedom.  Caesar is determined to crown himself as Rome’s first emperor\, but a few senators\, led by the idealistic\, intellectual Brutus and his manipulative\, rebellious friend Cassius\, are prepared to sacrifice everything to liberate their country.  Instead of being greeted as liberators\, they are met with civil war. \nKIDS & THE CLASSICS (6:30-7:15 PM) \n“Kids & the Classics” is the companion piece to Hip to Hip’s program of “Free Shakespeare in the Park.” This free 45-minute interactive workshop is offered one hour before every performance\, and is designed for children ages 4 to 14. It gives children a chance to interact with the text by previewing the characters and situations\, creating links between the text and their own lives through theatre games\, and close reading of text. \nMeet at the Myrtle Avenue Hill.

SUMMARY:A Celebration of Prince in Fort Greene Park
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a screening of Purple Rain in Fort Greene Park\, along with a DJ and music party to celebrate the work of Prince.  Borough President Eric Adams and Councilmember Laurie A. Cumbo will host the event this Friday\, April 29th. \nMusic will be played from 5pm-8pm\, with the film screening at 8pm. \nThe event will be held on the north side of the park\, within the Myrtle Lawn.  The closest entrance to the park is at Myrtle Avenue and North Portland.

SUMMARY:Yardcore: Brooklyn Bashment in Fort Greene Park\, 5/10
DESCRIPTION:Jamaica might be the original home of dancehall\, but New York City can certainly lay claim to some of the genre’s shining moments. Now The Red Bull Music Academy is bringing a wide range of current\, future and pioneering dancehall artists together for a massive\, free daytime party under the Brooklyn skies. Featuring a special set by dub master and sound system ruler King Jammy\, the event will also include performances from Jamaica’s Assassin\, Lisa Hyper\, and Tifa\, and Brooklyn’s Kranium\, Ricky Blaze\, Mixpak Sound\, and Federation Sound. The event will also feature site-specific installations from artist collaborative AVAF (Assume Vivid Astro Focus)\, internationally renowned for their bodacious style\, critique of social codes\, and their longtime celebration of music’s liberating power. For Yardcore: Brooklyn Bashment\, AVAF’s visual fantasy offers a bold and brilliant take on dancehall aesthetics with an explosive stage design\, as well flags and graphic treatments throughout the park. Along with the onslaught of dancehall jams and brilliant art display\, Yardcore: Brooklyn Bashment will also offer bashment-goers authentic Jamaican cuisine.
