Clinton Hill Arts Center, JACK and Prospect Heights Democrats for Reform present: a neighborhood discussion on police/community relations at JACK , 505 1/2 Waverly Ave (between Atlantic & Fulton).
From the organizers–
In 1992 the police staged a protest of Mayor Dinkins at City Hall, and now 22 years later, it seems we’re nearly at the same place. What is the nature of police-community relations then and now? What would we like community-police relationships to look like? We mourn the horrific deaths of Officers Wen Jian Liu and Rafael Ramos, but now we have the opportunity to talk about building a safer community and creating some dialogue between the police and the general public. Most protesters genuinely want change in how the police communicate and interact with the general public. As Central Brooklyn residents, we do too. What do YOU think the members of the police should know or be doing? Come and talk to your neighbors, and tell us what you think. Let’s work together towards a positive resolution to an intolerable situation.
