FREE Bagels for Bikers: National Bike to Work Day

Stop by the corner of Myrtle and Vanderbilt Avenues on your way to work to pick up a free bagel and coffee and lots of giveaways at our annual National Bike to Work Day event. The 88th Precinct will also be on hand to register bikes, which assists the NYPD in finding lost or stolen bikes.

What does “registering a bike” mean?

When registering, a bicycle is marked with an identification number using an engraver. A decal is affixed to the bicycle, which is difficult to remove. In the event that it is removed “void” appears on what remains of the decal. In the event that the bicycle is stolen and recovered, it can be traced back to the owner through I.D. number.
