Myrtle Avenue’s tree guards are receiving a fresh influx of ornamental plants. 25 tree beds are getting new perennials, including liriope, hostas, creeping thyme, and fountain grass (pictured).

Finding the right plants for urban tree beds is challenging. Not only are plants subjected to harsh conditions, but the microclimates are different from tree bed to tree bed. Moreover, a building can shade a tree bed in spring and fall but allow full sun in the summer – in effect creating multiple climates in the same tree bed.

We hope you enjoy the new plants as you stroll down the Avenue.
