Green in Bklyn opens this Wednesday, Earth Day

Tue, Apr 21st, 2009

Elissa Olin has dreamed about opening her own business for some time. It just seemed to make sense that it be about our environment, a topic that I am so passionate about. So when Elissa entered the 2008 Brooklyn Public Librarys Power Up Business Plan Competition and placed as a top winner, it seemed validation of the plan that had long been brewing in her mind. And the monetary award and technical assistance to top prize winners is providing a seed to get things started. Enter: Green in Bklyn, whose grand opening celebration takes place Wednesday, April 22nd– Earth Day, of course.

Green in Bklyn (432 Myrtle, btw Clinton & Waverly) is a one-stop green home goods store which as it tag line further describes, offers eco-friendly solutions for daily living. Products available will be everything from light bulbs to rugs to cleaning supplies to bed linens to recycled paper towels to baby diapers and baby bottlesall environmentally-friendly, of course. Elissa has a long work history as a performing artist and caterer. Green living has long been an important part of her life and she is looking forward to sharing that passion with the neighborhood. Elissa lives on the border of Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy and is also excited at the idea that she can walk to work and loves the opportunity to make a difference where I live.
