Artist Kate Newby brings playful boulder sculpture to Fort Greene Park

Mon, Jul 16th, 2012

Have you seen the new boulder seats in Fort Greene Park? Inspired by the boulder that locals call the Grey Painted Rock, artist Kate Newby has fashioned two seats out of concrete, stones from Fort Greene Park, mortar, and crystals, which now converse playfully with the existing boulder at the pathway near the hospital. The temporary installation, titled How Funny Are You Today, New York will be on site through November 25th.

Newbys installation invites park visitors to stop and rest or play, while simultaneously asking the viewer to reconsider the environments norms. This installation is sponsored by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP).
