We love that the Fort Greene Association (FGA) and the New York Times Local Blog partnered up to highlight local powerhouses for Black History Month.

Carol Thomas of Just Because Hair Therapy Salon located at 141 Carlton, just north of Myrtle, was one of the Black History Month honorees.

For an archived list of other honorees, including many friends of Myrtle Avenue and of course our local community, such as Whitman tenant association president Isabella Lee and musician Bill Lee (no relation).

Just Because Hair Therapy Salon was recently voted one of Uptown Magazine's top beauty shops for not only their skill in grooming and styling, but their “therapy approach” that makes the health of the hair an integral part of the experience. Additionally, the salon has devoted at least half of its years of service to the Prom Queen Project, a project created by Just Because to assist local youth w/workshops, pampering and prom clothing.

Just Because Salon is located at 141 Carlton Avenue, just north of Myrtle Avenue. Please call the salon at 718.722.7810 to set up an appointment or to RSVP for their 5 year anniversary event.
