This Saturday, join THE MELITAS’ founder and artist – Aissata Pinto da Costa – at Green in BKLYN as she showcases her colorful coloring book, t-shirts and mission to “build bridges between Africa, the diaspora and the rest of the world.” Don’t miss this opportunity to try on t-shirts, do some coloring book work and talk glorious empowerment from 12 – 5pm.

Designed by Aissata, THE MELITAS are African female athletes who inspire women to unleash their powers through exercise and mental wellness. Aissata draws energy from her own long distance runs and physical activities, designing her coloring book and t-shirts to inspire people to tap into the power of play!

In Aissata’s words, “THE MELITAS are Black female characters who travel the globe, building bridges between Africa, the diaspora and the rest of the world. They unleash their power in magnetic ways as they invigorate themselves and those around them by using exercise as a transformational tool. These bold and dynamic, colorful and stylish s-heros create energetic change, artistic expression and cultural excitement in all the global spaces they show up.

THE MELITAS naturally embrace their rich African culture and ancient legacy. They are fortified by the ancestors and are emboldened and courageous in their request to live their most outstanding lives.”
