Many residents have emphasized the need for health and nutrition education in our community. The gardeners at the Ingersoll Garden of Eden are local residents who are passionate about sharing knowledge about healthy eating and living with their neighbors.

When approached by the Fort Greene Focus about gathering recipes from Community Gardeners, they agreed to provide healthy recipes they use after harvesting vegetables from their garden, which recently won a First Place award for 2015 Sustainable leadership practices from National Grid through the Greenest Block in Brooklyn Contest.

The series kicked-off with a recipe  from a gardener named Aretha Singleton, who was also one of our Healthy Communities Initiative Community Chefs. Our Community Chef Cookbook includes a number of healthy, tasty recipes from Ms. Singleton, along with other Community Chefs.
