The Picture Book Art of Ted & Betsy Lewin

“After studying at Pratt, both Betsy and Ted Lewin became succesful artists. And though they have travelled the world together, the couple still calls the neighborhood home. We're delighted to have a selection of their award-winning illustrations on our walls to kick off summer vacation! Please join us Wednesday night to toast the Lewins. They'll be on hand to discuss their art and travels; Ted might even tell a story or two about his one-time career as a professional wrestler – or his family's pet lion.”

Who's Your Daddy?

10% off all spirits featured at the tasting

Prichard's Double Barrel Bourbon- Kelso, Tennessee (750ml) – $64

Most Bourbon comes out of the barrel at about 125 proof and then is watered down to lower the alcohol content. Prichard's limited release, double-barrel bourbon comes out of the cask, gets a dose of water, and then goes back into new, charred oak barrels. The result is a 95 proof bourbon with undiluted flavors that are complex and classy, highlighted by smooth vanilla notes and a touch of spice.

Tobermory 10 Year Limited Edition – Isle of Mull, Scotland (750ml) – $38
Smooth and velvety up front, with tangy fruit, exquisite gingerbread spice and a hint of aniseed. The finish brings in layers of fresh oak, baker's chocolate, almond and a little seaspray.

Redemption Rye Whiskey (750ml) – Bardstown, KY – $28
Redemption starts with a mash of 95% premium rye and then ages for over two years in new charred oak barrels. Despite its bold 92 proof, Redemtion is a smooth, sophisticated spirit thats also manages to preserve (or even saves – if you will – and we know you will) Rye's rustic soul. Makes a terrific Manhattan or Sazerac – but is also just right on its own.

There's a poet in every dad

W.B. Yeats advocated for Irish independence, but he proabably didn't have a problem with whiskey from Northern Ireland…And neither will dad.

Irish Whiskey

10% off Bushmills during the tasting

Bushmills Black Bush Irish Whiskey – Ireland (750ml) – $40
With an intriguing flavor and a name to match, Bushmills special blend combines malt whiskey matured in former Oloroso Sherry casks with a sweet, batch-distilled grain whiskey. This unique recipe gives Black Bush its rich, fruity notes and deep, smooth character.

Bushmills 10Yr Single Malt Irish Whiskey – Ireland (750ml) – $48

Triple distilled from 100% malted barley and matured for a minimum of 10 years, mainly in Bourbon-seasoned barrels. Aromas of honey, vanilla and milk chocolate introduce a soft, easy mouthfeel that carries a hint of toasted oak. Finishes crisp and clean.

Bushmills 16Yr Single Malt Irish Whiskey – Ireland (750ml) – $80
A distinctive Irish malt whiskey that's aged for 16 years in a combination of Oloroso Sherry and Bourbon casks, then matured for several months in Port wine barrels – a unique maturation which imparts notes of juicy fruits, nuts and spice – plus a hint of ruby redness. The robust nose of coffee and spice nicely matches flavors of praline, honey fruits and nuts. Deep finish with flavors of berries and dark chocolate.

All dads are peacemakers

Western Whiskey. Wyatt Earp may have been a legendary lawman, but wrangling the wild west is nothing compared to a day in the life of a Ft. Greene dad. How about a little whiskey for back on the ranch?

10% off whiskey featured during the tasting

Mccarthy's Single Malt Whiskey, Clear Creek Distillery – Oregon (750ml) – $46
This ambitious whiskey from Clear Creek Distillery in Portland, OR is about as close as you can get to an authentic single malt scotch from a former colony. Made in the Islay tradition from peat-malted barley brought in from Scotland and aged in old sherry casks, this is an assertive, peaty whiskey.

Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey – Denver, Colorado (750ml) – $55
Extremely small batch, artisan whiskey from Colorado. Made from barley – like Scotch, and aged in oak – like Bourbon. Josh occasionally lent these guys a hand at their small distillery in Denver. If you get any of the bottles he helped to fill, they're bound to be a little light…

Thanks, Dad.
