Community Mural-Making with SONYA
Join local artist Ellie Balk and South of the Navy Yard Artists (SONYA) in a collaborative mural-making event! All paint and supplies will be provided. Bring your friends, children, grandparents, neighbors and be ready to get creative and messy as we add color and energy to Myrtle Avenue! This activity takes place between Hall and Ryerson on September 20th and 27th beginning at 11am.
Tree Giveaway!
In partnership with Society for Clinton Hill, we're giving away 200 (that's right, 200!) trees this weekend courtesy of MillionTreesNY! Stop by Myrtle between Ryerson and Grand beginning at 11:30am to pick up your small, potted tree – ready to be transplanted to your backyard! While supplies last, of course.
Dry Earth Performers: You+Environment+Awareness
Dancers from the ground-breaking collective, Dry Earth, will present excerpts of their movement-based research with a very special performance from noon – 1pm. Their work focuses on using creative movement practices to deepen our connection to the natural environment. Don't miss this unique expression of public art in public space!
Maracatu NY – Brazilian Percussion
Maracatu NY fuses the musical styles of Northeast Brasil with the rhythms of New Orleans' second lines. Check them out at Myrtle and Ryerson outside La Stalla at 2pm.
Origami Workshop
Local resident Karen Bishop will lead a free origami workshop on Myrtle between Clinton and Waverly from 11am-2pm.

Brooklyn Urban Arts Market
This is an annual open-air market anchored by live music, DIY fashion, and local creative culture, brought you by BAM, Rebel Music Management and MARP. Stage Life Youth DJs open it up at noon, followed by School of Rock All Stars and blkvampires. Dance (or skate) to the old-school jams of DJs Soul Summit at 4pm. Get your trendy back-to-school shopping done too! (Myrtle between Emerson and Grand)
Green Transportation Fun with Livable Streets Education
Livable Streets Education will be leading family-friendly games and activities from 11am-2pm on Myrtle between Clinton and Waverly. Kids can investigate the reasons why pedestrians, cyclists, and mass transit riders help the environment. Families will be able to learn together about carbon footprint, alternative transportation, and innovative street design. They can also learn why Zozo, our big purple friend, loves when we travel “by feet, by train, by bike, by bus!” Activities include educational coloring pages, a large chalk street mural, and a fun 'redesign the street' felt board!
Free dance and yoga classes
Brought to you by local yoga and dance studio Move with Grace, free yoga, dance, and themed dance classes and performances return this week! (Myrtle between Washington and Hall)

Bring your friends and family along for this day of Peace, Community & Charity!
Do you have to do all 108 Sun Salutations? No, but the challenge is motivating! The event will also include inspirational Readings, live music from Singer NUCOMME at 3pm and the friendly vibes from people in your community.

Hoops, ropes and sidewalk chalk
Every week, were setting out hula hoops, jump ropes and sidewalk chalk so that kids (both young and young at heart) can express themselves.(NOTE: these activities are moving to Myrtle between Waverly and Washington this weekend)
Mmmm&Cooking Demos and Free Tastings!
In front of Associated Supermarket (between Hall and Washington), were setting up a cooking station where healthy food will be prepared by local chefs of all ages! Teen Iron Chefs return (12pm-2pm) to host interactive cooking demonstrations with seasonal, locally grown produce donated by Greenmarket farmers. Taste the fare of soon-to-open Sans Souci, a new Caribbean restaurant on Myrtle between Washington Park and Carlton, from 2pm-4pm.
