Yesterday we got on a bus and made our way to Flushing, Queens to visit the Queens Community House Pomonok Farmer’s Market & Garden. The market has two regional farmers and a table with the veggies from the Pomonok Community Garden. We tasted a delicious salad recipe featuring the flavor and health benefits of turnips and took a market tour to learn how and where to use EBT cards and/or participate in a cooking demonstration in order to receive $2 dollar Health Bucks to spend at participating farmer’s markets! It was a beautiful day and a pleasure to meet our neighbors in Queens who are also helping their community have access to fresh, affordable food!
