Have you stopped into El Cofre recently?  If so, you would have noticed the mural on the wall featuring a treasure chest (‘cofre’ is the Spanish word for treasure chest) and the full bar on the side.

The food, thankfully, remains unchanged and as delicious as always!

El Cofre remains a powerhouse of Dominican cuisine, with a diverse menu which includes favorites like baked chicken with mixed veggies and mashed potatoes, fresh fish with a side of tostones (sliced green plantains) or platanos maduras (fried ripe plantains), pollo guisado (stewed chicken); or a plate of rice and beans….so many choices! Most of the heaping plates of delicious cuisine at El Cofre can be shared by two!  The $5 and $6 lunch specials are available everyday, 11am-4pm.

El Cofre is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

El Cofre is located at 454 Myrtle Avenue between Waverly and Washington Avenues. They can be reached at 718.935.1153.
