The owners of Sapolo restaurant in Clinton Hill have begun demolition to prepare the site for a new mixed-use building. Work crews were seen today removing windows and finalizing interior demolition within the existing one-story building.
In 2014, plans were filed to create a six story building on the site, which sits at the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Ryerson Street. The new building will include 10 residential units and a 1,882 square foot ground-floor commercial space. The current restaurant space measures only 1,691 square feet.
The owners of Sapolo restaurant are also serving as developers of the property, which they have owned since 1999. It has not yet been announced if the restaurant plans to return to the site following construction.
This development marks the fifth building currently under construction along a four block stretch of Myrtle Avenue in Clinton Hill, between Hall Street and Emerson Place. The new Myrtle Avenue Plaza is also under construction within this same area. Find out more information on these various construction projects by clicking here.
