Spring Scavenger Hunt on March 30, 11am-1pm

 

Spring is here and to celebrate we are calling on all kid sleuths, detectives, and private eyes to join us on Saturday, March 30, from 11am – 1pm (rescheduled from 3/23) for our FREE Spring Scavenger Hunt on Myrtle Avenue!!! See below for the event schedule and details about how to hunt and what you need to do to win your very own GOODIE BAG


How to Hunt?

    • Pick up a Myrtle Ave Spring Scavenger Hunt card from our tent located on the Myrtle Ave Plaza (corner of Myrtle Ave & Hall St).
    • Then find all 8 animals in storefront windows on Myrtle Ave (between Adelphi & Classon) and write the name of the business under each animal on the front of the card.
    • After you complete the card, return it to us to receive a GOODIE BAG full of candy and prizes and to enjoy a special interactive show, Women’s Her-Story Game: We Who Believe In Freedom Cannot Rest!

Also enjoy a FREE book from our partners at Brooklyn Book Bodega, Balloon Animals by Sparkly Faces, Easter Family Crafting Event by Growth Mindset Learning Labs and Girl Scout cookies! Women’s Her-Story Game: We Who Believe In Freedom Cannot Rest!
Test your knowledge of radical movement makers in women’s history. From Ella Baker to Audre Lorde, radical change is not for the faint of heart. Take the journey with us, as we connect with women who transformed history. This is a hands-on Women’s Her-Story Game for the entire family. Laugh, learn, and play with history, culture, and community change makers. (Myrtle Plaza @ Steuben St.) Presented by Bridges: A Pan-Afrikan ARTS Movement and Urban Stages.


Performers
Wéma Ragophala is the founder of Bridges: A Pan-Afrikan ARTS Movement.  She is a theater director, writer, performing artist, teaching artist, and community organizer. Wéma directed Sankofa Project, The Homecoming Queen, Grown Adorable Adult, In Her Memory. Wéma also wrote, performed, and toured her solo performance work, Roots, Rhythm, and Revolution, about an artist finding the courage to mobilize a movement for community empowerment. She has been featured as a StooPs Bed Stuy artist, and commissioned by Brooklyn Public Library to create works on arts and activism. She is a 2024 Laundromat Project Create Change Artist Fellow.

Malcolm Melendez is a 19-year-old musician who plays the double bass, electric bass, and cello. He is planning to attend college as a music performance major in the fall of 2024. He enjoys playing all types of music, especially classical and jazz. His music roots started at the Noel Pointer Foundation and he has recently played at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall.

Balloon Twisting by Sparkly Faces has more than 7 years of experience, specializing in balloon twisting, face painting, glitter tattoos and so much more. Balloon options to include flowers, swords, hearts & animals (dogs, cats, bunnies & more)

Restaurant Week 2024

Myrtle Avenue Restaurant Week is back! 15 restaurants along Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, are offering 3-course sit-down dining deals at price points for every budget. For $20, $30 or $40, taste cuisines from Cambodia to Italy, Mexico to Nepal, and everywhere in between.

All offers include three-courses available during the participating restaurant’s dinner hours for dine-in service only.
Tax and gratuity are not included in the listed price. Prices are per person and plates cannot be shared.

Now Open: Rosticceria Evelina

This cozy and inviting spot, from the folks behind the much-loved Evelina in Fort Greene, pairs the best elements of your favorite cocktail bar with delicious Italian homestyle comfort food. Diners can enjoy indoor seating at the front bar, tables in the main dining section, or the covered, climate controlled outdoor garden open year-round.

Some menu highlights include:
