Burzh-wa Is Moving
After 10 successful years in business on Myrtle Avenue, Burzh-wa Salon will close its doors and will be heading to a new location on the corner of Fulton and Grand, the former home of Samantha’s Southern Cuisine.
In addition to the skill of the stylists in cutting, styling and coloring, the salon has built quite a strong reputation in excellent customer service.
“I would have loved to have found a space and stayed on Myrtle Avenue. It’s been my home for the past decade, and I can hardly walk down the street without greetings from my fellow merchants and neighbors. It’d be hard to replicate that,” shared Kim. “However, I’m glad that I get to stay in our beloved neighborhood and I look forward to contributing to life on Fulton Street and getting to know neighbors there as well!”
The building on Myrtle Avenue where Burzh-wa is currently located changed hands several months ago.
Burzh-wa has been a wonderful neighbor on Myrtle Avenue over the past 10 years, and we wish them the very best.
Burzh-wa will be located at 980 Fulton Street at Grand next month. In the meantime, please stop in, say hello, and make an appointment! They can be reached at (718) 237-2815.
Myrtle Goes TEAL for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
September marks ovarian cancer awareness month and you may find teal ribbons along Myrtle Avenue promoting the national campaign that is spearheaded by Tell Every Amazing Lady (TEAL), an ovarian cancer awareness group that began in Brooklyn in 2009.
The Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership, along with Myrtle Avenue’s small businesses have teamed up with TEAL to place ribbons upon the district’s street trees and storefronts. Since TEAL’s primary mission is to educate women about ovarian cancer and to raise funding for research, several businesses are providing an opportunity for their customers to easily donate to the organization:
Corkscrew Wines: Purchase a bottle of Sequals Friulano (it boasts a teal label) and $1 from the sale will be donated to TEAL to support their annual TEAL Walk.
Peck’s: Throughout September, Peck’s traditional black and white cookie will become teal and white. Profits from cookie sales will be donated to TEAL.
21 Tara: Purchase a teal beaded bracelet – available for $10 – and $1 will be donated to TEAL.
To learn more about, donate to, or sign-up for the annual walk in Prospect Park on Sept. 10th, visit the TEAL website.

Chew Toys Get Political at NYCPet.com
NYCPet.com’s political parody chew toys have been flying off the store shelves.
One resembles Hillary Clinton, complete with pantsuit and pearls. The other resembles Donald Trump with suit and toupe, just as we are used to seeing them both.
Why is it that we’re only showing the Hillary Clinton chew toy? Because the Donald Trump doll keeps is sold out at the moment, no more in the store. Apparently more people want Donald Trump in their dog’s mouth stated one employee when asked about it.
Well, the good news is they are both available online on at NYCPet.com.

Eat Drink [Groove] HERE Winner Announced
A very BIG THANK YOU to Patricia Gonzalez and all of our Fort Greene and Clinton Hill neighbors who stopped into or paused to take an Instagram photo outside of our Myrtle Avenue businesses who hosted live music on Thursdays during the month June.
The goal of the ‘Get Your Groove on [Here]‘ event aka the Groove Series was to help bring additional foot traffic to the businesses most impacted by the Plaza construction. Passersby during the Groove events were asked to take a photo and tag the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram — Patricia tagged us via Facebook and Instagram.
Thank you for shopping Myrtle Avenue, Patricia! Big thanks to you and all of our awesome neighbors for not letting anything keep you away from your favorite businesses. Congratulations on your $100 gift certificate.
Stay tuned for our next Plaza event series and keep supporting our businesses during construction!
